"Regicida (“king killer” in Portuguese) is the first of many tracks where I tackle Y2K era video game sounds and themes mixed with pop and Brazilian music. The lyrics tell the story of a robot (or video game character) responsible for killing the king of the virtual world they live in, and they’re being confronted with the existential question of whether they did this out of their own will, or if they’re being controlled by an external force. The different voices I make during the track also help reinforce the idea that this single event has many perspectives and will be told in many different ways throughout history. It’s supposed to sound grand, catchy and melodramatic, but also part of the OST of some imaginary PS1-era game."
lyrics
O trono, ensanguentado
O céu ficou escuro
Garantiu nosso futuro
Cansei
Surtei
Cheguei perto do fim
Matei
O rei
Tem soldado atrás de mim
Vou ter que me virar
Por ter sido controlado
Fui programado assim, meu bem
Será mesmo que fugi daqui?
É tanta história que eu já ouvi
E nada se compara ao que eu senti
Ali
Eu duvidei de ser algemado
Me questionei estar apaixonado
Por ceder o controle
Em qualquer lugar
Cansei
Surtei
Cheguei perto do fim
Matei
O rei
Tem soldado atrás de mim
Vão que me calar
Eu fui mesmo enganado
Segredos são cruéis, meu bem
Será mesmo que fugi?
Gojii continues to prove why they are the future of dance music. With this effort, they flex their massive advancements—and presently achieved mastery—in production, particularly in the sub-bass sector; unsurprisingly, they serve up nothing but gripping, emotionally compelling leads and hooks from front to back. The hypnotic, serene UKG featured on this project is light, airy, and yet somehow impactful and striking in every instance. I consider BLISS to be yet another easy win for Gojii. OSHA VIOLATION ⚠
Warmth ripped out of your chest, wandering while wondering how the hell you ended up here - that's what this captures. Rage, pure incredulous loss, the weight of expectations from without and within. Trying to let go with equal parts anger and apology. All with a voice that goes the whole range, beautiful and strained. This hits fucking hard. Thank you for being here. Vela_Aurelia64
